Corruption and Aatmanirbhar Bharat

We have seen how so many political movements have gained momentum in India just in the name of weeding out corruption. Corruption is found in the proverb “Power Corrupts, Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely.”

Narendra Modi led BJP came to power promising a real change in the administrative scheme of our nation. The Anna Hazard agitation of the 2013 catapulted Arvind Kejriwal led AAP to power, but today after 6 & 7 years respectively despite all the laws in place with a Lokayukta and a Lokpal, we still have corruption prevailing at all levels of administration in our country.

It is not just the Opposition ruled states where we see corruption but it is everywhere in the Indian society at all levels and corruption opens channels for not just the individual during his intercourse with the Instrumentalities of the State, but also the power of organised capital which lands up dictating policies by taking over the administrative machinery and the administrators through a backdoor created by mutual interests in pursuit of capital and consumerism amplifying commercialism.

The State in its economic intercourse through its machinery and the entrepreneurs bends the entire system to suit the ends of the capitalist and produce fixed results not often as a result of demand driven growth but even demand is created by catalysing collective greed. The businessmen then begin exploiting people and the circulation of money is such that it creates a flow of money which yields in creation of more debt paper and less of value.

Aatmanirbhar Bharat is a good idea but without creating a revolutionary change in the administrative machinery through administrative law amendments and codification, and taming the laiseez faire approach towards commercialism, a self-sustaining economy will be more devastating than rejuvenating.

The experiences of the past in nations across the globe have shown that value creation is done with conservatism socioeconomic policies that unlock the genius of a people to the heights of transmuting the rut of its people to wonders of creation.

But with the corrupt system in place nothing will produce the desired results since capital decides the outcomes of all schemes and businesses in our nation.
